Airports Authority of India is the responsible authority for the provision of air traffic services within the area indicated under para 2 below.

The services are provided in accordance with the provisions contained in the following ICAO documents -

i) Annex 2 - Rules of the Air

ii) Annex 11 - Air Traffic Services

iii) Doc 4444 - Procedures for Air Navigation Services-Air Traffic Management (PANSATM)

iv) Doc 8168 - Procedures for Air Navigation Services-Aircraft Operations (PANS-OPS)

v) Doc 7030 - Regional Supplementary Procedures

1.3.1.

Differences to these provisions are detailed in subsection GEN 1.7.

2.

Area of responsibility

2.1.

With the exception of certain military areas, state, military and private aerodromes, Air Traffic Services are provided for the entire Indian territory including territorial waters as well as in airspace over high seas encompassed by Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai Flight Information Regions.

2.2.

Details of such services are provided in section ENR 2.

3.

Types of services

3.1.

With the exception of services provided at military air bases, the following types of services are provided :

i) Air Traffic Control Service

ii) Air Traffic Advisory Services

iii) Flight Information Service and Alerting Service

iv) Radar Services

3.2.

There is no distinction between upper and lower controlled airspace.

3.3.

A number of prohibited, restricted and danger areas have been established. Details of these areas given in section ENR 5.1.

4.

Coordination between the operator and ATS

4.1.

Co-ordination between the operator and air traffic services is effected in accordance with para 2.15 of ICAO Annex-11 and para 2.1.1.4 and 2.1.1.5 of Part VIII of the Procedure for Air Navigation Services-Rules of the Air and Air Traffic Services (Doc 4444-PANS-ATM)

5.

Minimum Flight Altitude

5.1.

The minimum flight altitude on the ATS routes as presented in section ENR 3 have been determined so as to ensure at least 1000 ft (300m) vertical clearance above the highest obstacle within 10 KM on each side of the centre line of the route.
