2. RWY 31 is equipped with the basic approach lighting system of length 300m. Total two side rows of lights are extending
from runway threshold to 270m along with two crossbars one at 150m and another at 300m from runway threshold.
3. Due to scheduled maintenance work, runway is closed at Srinagar from 1500 Hrs (0930 UTC) to next day sunrise on
every 01st, 03rd and 05th Sunday.
4. All fixed wing aircraft are to line up 500ft ahead from beginning of Runway on concrete portion at 13 Dumbbell to avoid
damage to the arrester barrier.
5. All heavy and medium category aircraft to line up 500ft ahead of both runway thresholds to avoid damage to arrester net
in lowered position.
6. All pilots to exercise caution for grooves on southern side of runway from 6000ft to 8500ft of LDA for RWY 31, 3500ft
to 6000ft of TORA for RWY 13. Groove dimensions 1.5cm, 1cm deep running along southern side of RWY centreline
marking location 12ft from centreline.
7. All pilots to exercise caution for grooves on northern side of RWY from 5000ft to 7000ft for LDA for RWY 31, from
5000ft to 7000ft of TORA for RWY 13. Grooves dimensions 1cm width, 1cm deep running along northern side of RWY
centreline marking location 18ft from centreline.
8. The shoulders of runway and parallel taxiway are not levelled, the level difference is of 1 meter.
9. There are deviations in aerodrome ground markings on manoeuvring area from ICAO
(Annex-14 Vol-1) and are as follows:
a) Center line marking on parallel taxiway is broken white.
b) Transverse strip is painted across parallel taxiway at extremities.
c) Eight solid yellow triangles painted at beginning of parallel taxiway for 31.
d) Military aircraft parking bay markings on runway turn pads at both ends.
e) Three helipads are marked on parallel taxiway.
10. Red period at Srinagar due to heavy bird activity (large bird crossing activity) over approach for Runway 31 from 15
minutes before sunrise to 15 minutes after sunrise and 15 minutes before sunset to 15 minutes after sunset. No fixed
wing flying is permitted at base during this period.
11. Arrester Net for the use of military aircraft lying on stop way of both Runway at a distance of 30M from both Runway
ends. Arrester Net hut either side of Runway abeam Arrester Net at a distance of 20M from Runway Edge and at the
Height of 1.6M.
12. Obstructions around the airfield: Three masts of Air Force cellular network erected around airfield having day and night
obstruction markings.
